Following a burst water main near the railway at Woodlesford, all lines have now reopened. Whilst service recovers, trains between Leeds and Castleford / Wakefield Kirkgate may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Customer advice:

Services between Leeds and Wakefield Kirkgate / Castleford are currently being disrupted after a water main burst near the railway.

Network Rail staff have attended to this incident and completed the necessary work. All lines have now reopened and train services are able to resume.

Services on the following routes will be affected by this disruption:

• Between Leeds and Sheffield via Barnsley
• Between Leeds and Lincoln
• Between Leeds and Nottingham
• Between Leeds and Knottingley via Castleford
• Between Leeds and Knottingley via Featherstone

Northern services on the following routes are not affected by this disruption:

• Between Leeds and Doncaster
• Between Leeds and Sheffield via Moorthorpe

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on TransPennine Express services between Castleford and Wakefield Kirkgate.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Road transport:

Road transport has been confirmed to run as follows:

• 21:10 Leeds to Knottingley via Castleford, calling at all stations. Two 16- seater minibuses provided by RSZ Travel
• 21:10 Leeds to Wakefield Kirkgate, calling at all stations via Castleford and Normanton. Two 16-seater minibuses by RSZ Travel
• 21:10 Knottingley to Leeds via Castleford, calling at all stations. One full-size coach provided by J&B Travel
• 21:20 Wakefield Kirkgate to Leeds, calling at all stations via Castleford and Normanton. Two 16-seater minibuses by Elite
• 22:20 Knottingley to Leeds via Featherstone, calling at all stations. Two 16- seater minibuses provided by RSZ Travel

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.

Journey times may be extended by up to 30 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.
